Filter Fly

  • The Filter Fly is 2mm in length.
  • The Filter Fly’s tan coloured body appears as grey.
  • The wings of Filter Files are densely covered in hair and held tent–like over the body when at rest.


  • The eggs of Filter Flies hatch in 1–6 days.
  • The larvae of Filter Flies mature in 10–50 days, while the Pupae mature in 1-3 days.


  • These flies are frequently related to sewage beds where larvae feed on sludge–like organic matter.
